How Double Daf Yomi Works

man studying gemara

Built for Experienced Learners.
Double Daf Yomi is designed for learners who’ve completed Shas, or are close to it. This isn’t where you start — it’s where you go deeper.

One Calendar. Two Dapim a Day.
Every day, the Double Daf Yomi calendar gives you two readings: the standard Daf Yomi page that learners around the world are studying that day, and a second daf that keeps you moving twice as fast through the cycle. Learn the first in the morning, the second at night — using the resources you already know, whether that’s your Gemara, a recorded shiur, or your preferred Daf Yomi app.

Each day’s readings link directly to DafYomi.co.il, so you always know exactly what to learn — no guesswork, no separate system to figure out.

The Vision Behind Double Daf Yomi

Ilan Goldstein Headshot

After learning through Shas for nearly thirty years and completing the Talmud approximately four times, I founded Double Daf Yomi for experienced learners who already know the power of Daf Yomi and are ready for the next level. One daf a day builds consistency; two dapim a day — one in the morning and one in the evening — builds fluency, retention, and real mastery. This rhythm reflects the words we say every day in the Shema: “when you lie down and when you rise up.” Double Daf Yomi is not meant to replace the classic Daf Yomi cycle. It is a new track for those who have already been there and want to go deeper by going through it again, faster and with sharper focus.

My vision is to create a movement of motivated learners who understand that repetition is not redundancy — it is the path to ownership. If you have completed Shas, or are close enough to know what the journey requires, I invite you to double your learning, double your commitment, and, with Hashem’s help, double your שכר. Rabbis, educators, and fellow learners with ideas or interest in collaborating — I’d love to hear from you.

Ilan is a graduate of Yeshiva University and Fordham School of Law, a Smicha candidate under Rav Yitzchak Breitowitz of the Jerusalem Kollel, and studied in Gush Etzion in the shiur of Rav Joseph Baer Soloveitchik.
